California State Automobile Association (CSAA)
Online Guide

Robertson Associates provided the technology for CSAA's knowledge management system, the Online Guide, a just-in time information system that puts the corporate knowledge base on the customer service reps' desktops. This system has been deployed as part of an overall re-engineering effort in which CSAA is providing expanded performance support for customer service representatives as they take on more responsibilities across almost all business products and services. The system has improved customer service through quick access to information, empowering fewer staff to deliver better service. CSAA has also experienced a reduction in staff training time and expense through delivery of needed facts online, on-the-job.

Busch Creative Services - Viewtool

ViewTool is a software archive developed for Busch Creative Services Corporation to give users quick and easy access to a database of over 400 hours of Anheuser-Busch commercial film footage. The system is a database of the archive's contents linked to visual samples of the scenes stored on videodisc. Existing film was transferred to digital videotape and each scene cataloged. The resulting data became part of a massive database that users search using a variety of search criteria. Users can access footage based on up to 50 different pieces of information, including where, when, and how the scene was originated as well as on its visual components.

Pacific Bell - Electronic Yellow Pages Prototype

This project saw the development of the first online yellow pages prototypes and a vision for the new world of online commerce. An extensive series of prototypes illustrate how telephone customers with computers could access and use an array of online services. These included graphic interfaces for commercial transactions; reservations and appointments, interactive maps and route plotting, transportation options and schedules, plus information on government programs. They featured multimedia advertisements using color, animations, sound, and video to present products and services.

These prototypes were first used to analyze potential business initiatives and were later used to help lobby Congress for relaxation of regulatory constraints. The commercial concepts include online services that are beginning to be offered today and others that are in the planning stages by various companies.
